Commerce Faculty had started in the year 1977-78 at G.K.G College Kolhapur earlier that their was P.D Course for all faculties Since 1977-78. 10+2 pattern has been started by MaharastraGovtDuringthat period there was very less scope for a commerce faculty, but from 1983-84 on wards a lot of scope for commerce wing.

Because of more attractions towards commerce faculty at G.K.G College, 3 Divisions grantable were Started Since 1984-85 for XI and XII Class. And one division were started non-grantable since 2007-2008. This is because of Principal C.D.Joshi, he belongs to commerce faculty hence he inducedto commerce faculty members to improve and expand commerce Department at Jr.College. Level As well as Senior College Level too. For this Prof. S.Rane (Later he become a mayor of K.M.C) Prof A.S. Khojage, Prof. P.D. Samant were contributed more support for Development of Commerce Faculty.
